The holiday season is officially underway and Portlanders are ready to take in the sight of a train full of train stations.
The Christmas Tree train will be on the Oregon Coast between Portland and Vancouver, starting at the Biltmore Hotel and heading east to Portland International Airport.
The train will leave Portland at 10 a.m. on Jan. 26, and it will leave for Vancouver at 2 p.m., Portland Fire Chief Chris Woods said.
It’s not clear when the train will arrive in Vancouver, but it’s expected to be ready for service by the end of the month.
Oregon’s Christmas train schedule is very similar to what you’ll see on other Amtrak routes, which run every few days.
The Oregon Coast train is a commuter train with a scheduled service to and from Portland, Portland International and Vancouver.
Oregon Coast trains run every 10 minutes, with stops in Portland and Portland, Ore., to help passengers get to and across the Columbia River from Oregon to Washington, D.C.
Oregon coast train service begins at 10:30 a.M. every day, Woods said, and passengers get off at 10 p.M., usually around 2:30 p.S.E. The Oregon Coast service is only one of several train services in Portland that run every 15 minutes.
The Portland-Vancouver route has several stops that are off-peak.
The last train to leave Portland was at 9:30:45 p.s.t., and it departed at 3:45 a.p.m.; a new Portland-Sarasota train departed at 6:30, and the Portland-Washoe-Tukwila-Seattle route is off-Peoria at 3 a.d.M.; and the Seattle-Portland route is at 6 a.t.M.-7 a.y.
M, Woods added.
Woods said the Oregon coast train will have no on-time departures, and if there are delays, the train won’t arrive until the next morning.
Oregon, like most of the U.S., does not allow trains to stop at any point on its route, so trains can only stop once a week, once a month or once every 10 days.
Wood is encouraging people to take the train when it is available.
“We’re not going to make the most of it,” he said.
Wood said he’s excited about seeing how the train is used.
“It’s just a beautiful train.
It’s a good thing,” he added.
