The president is preparing for a military training exercise with military personnel and military contractors in North Carolina next week, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
The source, who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly, said the drill will begin in early December and will involve military personnel training with civilian contractors to ensure that the exercise is safe for the civilian workforce.
The drill is part of a plan Trump is implementing to help train for a potential military conflict with North Korea, according the source.
“We’re doing everything we can to get the people prepared for what we are going to be facing,” the source said.
Trump has ordered the deployment of hundreds of military personnel to the state to train with local military contractors.
Trump on Friday ordered a massive military exercise in the state with more than 3,000 troops.
The drill will likely be the largest exercise in U.S. history, according a source familiar with the matter.
The state of North Carolina has long been considered a hotbed of North Korean defectors and the state has hosted dozens of North Koreans who have fled the country.
Trump has made the state a priority of his presidency, including by appointing a special envoy to the region.
North Korean defector Kim Jong Un reportedly gave Trump a list of defectors who he could train with at the North Carolina State Fair in 2017.
The sources told Breitbart News that North Korea is a priority for Trump.
The White House has yet to respond to a request for comment.
